Chewy

By: Diane Christine Raney

Once there was a little girl
She lived at 200 Oakdale.
Her address it said Toms River
But it was in Manchester that she got her mail.

She had a cute little hamster
Chewy was his name
He was really cute and had soft fur
But chewing was his claim to fame.

He chewed and chewed and chewed some more
He didn’t know when to stop.
He got too fat, his heart gave out.
I had to bury him in a box.

Right behind my house was best
I buried him beside a tree.
I whispered in his cute little ear.
Farewell Chewy-you are now free.

It has been a long time since I’ve checked on Chewy
I did it on a whim.
I checked him out on Google maps…..
Somebody built a house on him!

Unforgetable

Please share with us your favorite images. Don't be shy.

#1 Dan has started us off with this amazing photgraph of what can only be described as a fun loving stranger. He is cool, funny, and a fan of the outdoors.

Sure, he looks like a paler version of Great Tiger from Mike Tyson's Punch Out , but he is as gentle as a kitten.

#2 We met this dude at a party in PLP. It was the summer of 2003. He wasn't invited, but he kindly asked to hang and was quickly accepted. Forget his name, but I do know he plays bass for a "post-grunge" woods band.
He agreed to jam at Jim's 30th b-day bash, but sadly never showed.

Traye and I

Traye Blackburn and I paid many a vist to Ciba Geigy via the fire trails behind 1st Ave. We would take our 2 or 3 dollars, buy a butt load of gum and juice from the farm (cumberland), and ride like the wind to our polluted paradise. What did we do when we got there? Nothing really. Nevertheless, it was exciting.

It is here that you will learn of the amazing things this magnificant company did for our generation and the generations to follow. By the way....this handsome, unnessarily happy, yellow-toothed fella pictured above is A.M. “Don” MacKinnon. Yes, his name is A.M. and he was the president and CEO of Ciba Geigy in 1986. (Perhaps A.M. stands for "Already Malignant")

I totally hold him responsible for making me look like this in 1987............. My stepfather was pissed. Really really pissed.

speed kills (sometimes)

The graph on the left, taken from www.city-data.com, shows the most recent demographic data of PLP/Leisure Village West. It is THE main reason why I wear my seatbelt.
Incendentally, it is also the main reason Friendly's is still in business, Walmart sells shoes, and The Price is Right is still on television.
Old people are funny and old and nice. Leave them alone (but not too alone). jerk.
